One of the great sevices here on Mt Boron are the various garbage collection services. "Regular" garbage is picked up 5 nights every week (Saturday and Wednesday are the exceptions). Recycling, more than we are able to do in North Carolina, is picked up every Wednesday night. We can take newspapers, magazines and all matter of glass to a collection center which is only a 10 minute walk from our home. The only item we normally recycle in North Carolina that seems not to have a home here are plastic bags. The net result of all this is that in the last three weeks living here, I have had to put out no "regular" garbage and the garbage can now has one small plastic bag in it. Oh yes, we compost all the compostable items in our garden.
