"French Ideal of Bicycle-Sharing Meets Reality" - NYTimes.com

We now have this program here in Nice, and one can rent a bike at the food of Mont Boron. I have not seen any similar report of what the experience has been here from utlization to theft - it was launched only in July of this year.

Nice Le Port - the Port of Nice - the area surrounding Residence Port Nicea

Airplanes

If Mt Boron were not here, airplanes arriving at Nice Airport - when the winds make it best to land from the east - would fly directly overhead. But we have a noise abatement program in place, and most airplanes comply by zigging to the south before zagging north and west again in order to get to the runway. We are close enough to the planes that we can make out which airline each is. If we see one clearly flying as though we were not here, to whom can we complain?

Recycling

We have an excellent recylcing program here. They pick up from a designated cart that they give each of us - once a week.

What they don't pick up and what cannot be dropped off any place that I have found are plastic bags and office papers. I have asked why not, and am still waiting for an answer.

English readers with an interest in Mont Boron?

I wonder how many English readers there may be with an interest in, or connection to, Mont Boron. I am writing this in English, but probably need a version francaise. Or at least regular posts en francais. I will consider doing so.

Improvements!

Not only are we finally getting a sewer line in front of our house - to which we soon should be able to connect, but it looks like we may be getting a new water line as well. A crew is digging up the Route Forestiere from Col de Villefranche and laying new pipe.

Alas, this means that bus service is interrupted for most of each day until 15 Nov.

And one more - we seem to be getting a new parcours of exercise stations! We have long had one here but it had fallen into disuse and general distress. Now a new set of stops seem to be emerging in the forest and I surely look forward to tackling all that I can when it is finished.
